Shop History

José Cirineu da Silva, the maternal grandfather of the founder of Galerias da Vandoma, Acácio Ernesto da Silva Luz, was one of Lisbon’s leading antiquarians and a specialist in gravures which he restaured also. It was through his relationship with him that Acácio Ernesto da Silva Luz would develop a passion for antiques, a passion he would dedicate himself too along with other activities. However in 1975 he began to operate exclusively in the trade of auctioneering and antiques coming to develop a business with his children, a sociedade Agência Portuense de Leilões, Galerias da Vandoma, Lda, with headquarters in the historical zone of the city of Porto. Today the managership lays with the grandddaughter of the founder, making her one of the few female auctioneers in the country. The Galerias da Vandoma has always been at the forefront of the arts scene and civic involvment in issues pertaining to the city, for the products it commercialises, for the events it organizes and for the rigorous examination of the products it aims to sell. The provision of art pieces, contributions to exhibits to an arrayy museums and art galleries, demonstrate the esteem in which the institution is held in cultural establishments throughout the city.
