The Shop

The confectionery has its own manufacture, with several products recognized, the famous bread pudding that strictly follows the original recipe. The king cake made according to recipe of the century. XIX and traditional sweets such as poveiros, crests, glories and quality bread like the traditional regueifa that they sell daily.
It maintains the main characteristics of the interior architecture, especially the mirrors on the walls, the paintings recovered with the original colors, the balconies and the iron railing. The facade is a fine example of the architecture of the second half of the 19th century, with the use of noble materials such as marble.

Shop History

Founded in 1896, it was acquired by current owners in 1998, who invested in the requalification of that space by bringing it as close as possible to the original project. It integrates in the decoration diverse pieces and equipment of origin, like the service of cutlery and of tea in silver and the crockery of the cheerful sight. They were responsible for the Mariage snack of renowned Portuguese cellist Guilhermina Suggia (1885-1950). The author of Agustina Bessa-Luís writes about this establishment in the book "The Principle of Uncertainty (vol.II) – the soul of the rich. They are a reference in the city for the quality of its manufacture.
