It’s the red doors and the round sign, which sways on windy days, that point us to Dom Ferreira´s Tavern in the historic Rua de S. Vicente. Entering this restaurant means immersing yourself in a rural atmosphere, where a sliding counter and a wall cupboard full of mugs welcome you before moving on to the restaurant with the characteristic square tablecloths on the tables. The stone walls are full of memories and souvenirs.
A restaurant with regional cuisine, an excellent meeting point at lunchtime to enjoy a delicious duck rice, the speciality of the house.

Shop History

The first reference found was an application from 1936, in which Maria da Conceição Ferreira Rego requested a retail wine license, and in 1939, with José Alberto Sousa Barcelos, a tavern license was granted. In 1946, the license for a "Casa de Pasto" is granted, with Augusta Rodrigues’ petiscos (Portuguese version of tapas). The designation Casa de Pasto will endure with other owners, Amaro Fernandes Moreno and Conceição Gomes da Silva. Since 1995 the company J & Ferrreira, Lda. has been responsible for transforming Dom Ferreira´s Tavern into a welcoming space and for captivating clients with the delicious Minho delicacies.
