Café Sport was one of the first cafes to open its doors in Viana do Castelo, with a centuries-old history that makes it the oldest cafe still in operation.

Shop History

On April 8, 1955, Café Sport would be acquired by a renowned figure from Viana, José Enes Gonçalves Natário (see text about Pastelaria Zé Natário) who, at the age of 22, began managing the establishment, which would never leave the family. His business dynamism – combined with his role as an athlete, association leader and benefactor – would be fundamental to guarantee the success and vitality of the space. It began by installing a games room in the space and only later would it become exclusively used as a restaurant. In 2015, the business was passed on to his grandchildren Rui and Pedro Natário, who continued the modernization of the space without forgetting their values and memories of a space distinguished as an Institution of Merit by the Viana do Castelo City Council.
