A Sociedade Filarmónica Alunos Esperança (SFAE), located at Rua de Alcântara, 1, 2nd floor, 1300-023 Lisboa, is an Association registered on the Lisboa Civil Government on the 23rd December1903..

Originating from Sociedade Filarmónica Alunos Euterpe, founded in the Alcântara neighborhood more than a century ago, the SFAE is, one of the oldest collectives in Lisboa district and in the country. It has remained in the parish since its founding, resisting crises and socioeconomic transformations that have occured throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, up to the present.

Shop History

The Portuguese Confederation of Cultural, Recreational and Sports Associations awarded SFAE (federated no. 4) with gold and silver medals for "Good Deeds". SFAE is dedicated to several areas: Music Education, Music Band (from 1891 to 1938), Charity (notably Christmas parties to support those in need), Theatre, Recreation, Library, Sports (fox ball, handball, futsal, football, volleyball, ping-pong, table tennis, chess, sport fishing) and popular marches.

The SFAE has always participated in the popular marches, it is responsible for organizing the Alcântara March. Amália Rodrigues and her sister Celeste Rodrigues (famous fado singers) were marchers in the 1935 march. Alcântara March in 2024 and 2025 won the Lisboa Marches contest..
