Shop History

Passos Funeral Home has a rich and long history, serving the Guimarães region, the cradle of Portugal. It was founded in 1822 by the Passos family, evolving over the years while always maintaining a tradition of excellence and dedication.

The company, while always retaining the founder’s family name, became, in 1985, the property and management of Maria Rosa de Oliveira Gonçalves, daughter of Nicolau Gonçalves, the right-hand man, for more than 50 years, of João Augusto Passos, the last descendant owner of the family.

In 1997, it became a family business, Agência Funerária Passos, Lda., and later, in 2015, her son, José Abílio Gonçalves Borges de Araújo, took over management, continuing the company’s development. Under the motto "in difficult times we act for you," the company is a reference among the local population.
