The Shop
Tasca do Necas was founded on February 1, 1941, by Joaquim Vieira da Silva, the grandfather of the current owner, Noé Silva—or Necas, as he is affectionately known.
Shop History
It began as a traditional grocery store called Vieirinha, passed down from parents to children until it was transformed into a tavern to keep the family business going. Today, Necas’s tavern is known “throughout the country” and serves about 800 kilograms of gizzards a month, the house specialty.
Products and Services
The gizzards are served with specialties such as Galinha à Santo António, chispe, and rancho à Necas; beef shank; Filomena-style tripe; homemade chorizo; ovo entalado (bread, fried egg, and sliced ham); local wine; or “trifásico,” a mix of wine, beer, and soda.
