The Shop

Founded in 1984 by Manuel Vilarinho, Torcaz has built a solid reputation over several decades in the sale of firearms, ammunition, and hunting apparel. In 2023, the business transitioned to a partnership of four owners, who expanded its activity to include the sale of wines from Herdade da Ajuda. The shop is currently owned by Paula Henriques, Filipe Avelar, Alberto Fernando Capitão, and Alfredo Nascimento.

Shop History

The premises are distinguished by a strong visual identity, characterised by the predominant use of varnished oak wood across walls, panels, and furniture. This aesthetic coherence extends to the chosen colour palette — red and green — which symbolically evokes both the world of hunting and the surrounding natural environment.
A significant part of the collection on display is directly associated with hunting. In the Weapons Room, located in the basement, two Cogswell & Harrison shotguns stand out. Dating from 1910, these pieces won the European pigeon shooting title in 1956 and are of notable historical and heritage value.
