The Shop

Tenda was founded in 1936 by Maria Parente Pereira (known as Maria da Tenda), a young woman from Cardielos, and has remained a family business to this day.

Shop History

It began as a fruit and vegetable stand that made use of the front area of the house where they lived, but even then, Maria da Tenda would embroider shirts for a penny and a half by the light of a kerosene lamp, while her husband worked as a tailor in the same space. As the business passed from mother to daughter, the focus shifted to handicrafts, with an emphasis on products such as Viana Embroidery and Valentine’s Day Scarves, both of which are certified.
Today, the Tenda is a small, established shop specializing in Portuguese handicrafts, offering unique products made by Armanda Pereira Vaz.

Products and Services

Tenda is a magical place where, in addition to finding the most authentic and diverse Portuguese handicrafts, you’ll step into a shopping space that belongs to the past and brings back our fondest memories.
