Shop History

The “Solar da Praça” Association has its origin in the “Casa Comunitária da Praça” in the end of the 1950s (1958-59), located in República Square, number 38, 2nd floor. Although, even then, it was different from all the other accommodations in Coimbra, it was only recognized as “Solar da Praça“ in 1989. It is a larger community, with its own sense of identity, taking part in the academic and city life where the tradition is always changing, the greatest demonstration of its vitality.

Products and Services

True replacement communities, alternative households from those left in hometown, the Repúblicas (communal houses for students) are more than just student or university residences, representing the traditional academic life of Coimbra, with all that this entails, from the bohemian life to the ideological aspects.
