The Shop
Leitão & Irmão is one of the oldest Portuguese jewellery brands, originating from the historic Casa Leitão, founded in Porto in 1840. The brand returned to Chiado in 1995, consolidating its presence in this central area of Lisbon, where it reopened to the public in 2005.
Shop History
Holding a hallmark dating from 1887 — the oldest still in use in Portuguese assay offices — the brand adopts a sphinx above the letter “L” as its symbol. This element constitutes a distinctive mark of authenticity and tradition within the context of Portuguese jewellery.
Recognised for the quality, distinction, and innovation of its pieces, Leitão & Irmão has contributed to the prestige of the national jewellery sector. Its collections include exclusive pieces, often inspired by Portuguese symbolism, such as astrolabes, pillories, animals, and elements of the maritime world, reflecting the diversity and richness of this tradition.
