Restaurante Camelo was founded on July 14, 1983 by António Camelo in Santa Marta de Portuzelo.
Shop History
It would initially function as a cafe and snack house. After a season in France, António Rocha Camelo, encouraged by his godmother, decides, with his wife, to return to Portugal. They open a café, with Marta Quesado in the kitchen. They serve snacks, including traditional ones, including francesinha and barbecue chicken.
With great success, it expanded and the café became a restaurant in 1992, clearly focusing on regional cuisine. Therefore, invest in a gastronomy that perpetuates ancient recipes and honors Father Quesado, whose heir was his niece Marta Quesado – the cook who safeguarded the knowledge of traditional gastronomy and gave it a long life in cooking and teaching today’s cooks.
Products and Services
Highlights include mouth-watering entretés, bacalhoadas and rojões, sarrabulho rice and “bare foot” rice, barrosã veal, Portuguese stew and papaya goat from Serra D’Arga or even roasted lamprey and cod to Camel.
