Shop History

Carvalho, Batista & Cª. SA was founded on Rua do Almada, nº 24 in 1953. In 1967 the company moved to n.º79 of the same street, where it has remained until this day.
The society remained unaltered until 2007, at which point it became an anonymous society. It is made up now by five members of the same family and descendants (children and grandchildren) of José Saraiva de Carvalho, one of the first partners.
His initial commercial activity was in selling pieces of cutlery, hardware and then he extended his business area to bathroom accessories, furniture, lighting products, urban equipment and designer objects, amongst others.
Throughout its history, it established a partnership with such famed national architects as: Siza Vieira, Adalberto Dias, Carlos Prata, Bárbara Rangel, Souto de Moura, amongst others. This business is very well known for its exclusivity in producing and selling these special products, promoting the national products and their creators.
It is an establishment referenced in various publications and is ever present in exhibitions and fairs of design, architecture and furniture
