The Shop

Casa Antero has existed since 1957, following a modern style of what can be considered a Tavern and Snack Type Food House, but under the sign of modernity and sophistication. Good wines are kings and a reference in Caldas da Rainha for oenophiles! One of the highlights of the famous House is the “Wine by the Glass” concept! It began by selling wine by the glass, which is still the case today. It has 4 or 5 regions represented every week, as the owner’s priority is to value all regions and national productions, thus contributing to the region’s identity. People brought food and ate there. Later, they started making soup, then some cod pastries, and this is how this snack house was born, which splits into two rooms.

Shop History

The activity began in 1957 with Casa Antero and expanded into a restaurant company that is also part of Pachá. As we know, the Antero couple walked from Pinhal (Óbidos) to Caldas da Rainha to open the doors of Taberna Antero to their customers from Monday to Monday. As there was only transport at the end of the day, Taberna do Antero was the city’s meeting point, from bank employees, factory employees, drivers from Caldas and many others. “The small tavern served glasses of wine for five cents where people brought fish and potatoes bought in the square to cook, and began to serve snacks and meals in a larger and improved space.” In 1980, Paulo Feliciano returned from the army and, together with his sister Anabela and niece Filipa, dedicated themselves full time to “fulfilling the dream of their parents, Antero and Olímpia”. In 1990, Paulo renovated the dining room and called it Pachá. With service unlike a tavern, Pachá is a space dedicated to gourmet meals. Paulo and Anabela Feliciano modernized and adapted Casa Antero, which continues to be a place to live and a mandatory meeting point for many clients.

Products and Services

The counter display always displays octopus salad, pig ears or other snacks such as black pudding pies with pumpkin jam, spinach croquettes, broken eggs with sweet potatoes, among many others and good wines to accompany them. Wine by the glass, along with snacks, snacks, cheeses and famous tapas, continues to be the reference of this space, which periodically hosts exhibitions, workshops and themed dinners.
