Shop History

Miguel Pharmacy, located on one of the most emblematic streets in the center of Bombarral – Rua do Comércio – was designed by the architect Nuno Teotónio Pereira, a graduate of the School of Fine Arts (Lisbon) who was repeatedly honored and won several architectural awards, such as the National Architecture Prize from the Gulbenkian Foundation in 1961. A towering figure in architecture and urban planning in the second half of the 20th century, he was responsible for renowned projects such as the Office and Commercial Building (known as the “Franjinhas Building”) and the Águas Livres Complex, both in Lisbon. His works are distinguished by a concept that was both pragmatic and innovative, defining a golden era of Portuguese architecture in the first half of the 20th century, as evidenced in the integrity of original architectural elements. Founded in the early 20th century, in 1948, the pharmacy stands as a landmark of tradition and trust, keeping alive the collective memory of long-standing local customs.
