Since 1925 Óptica Morais has been dedicated to the sale and repair of glasses and watches and has also always been a medical optician.
In the same family for four generations, Óptica Morais remains a reference shop in the city of Figueira da Foz and continues to serve the same families since 1925.

Shop History

The history of Óptica Morais began in 1925 with Armando de Morais, watchmaker and optician, at 8 de Maio Square, better known as Praça Nova. Today, we find Óptica Morais in the same place and in the same family for four generations.
Óptica Morais started by selling glasses, lunettes, watches, spectacles, gramophones, clocks and records, with workshops for all these sections, and was also a medical optician.
What was essential in this legacy was preserved by the current owner Helena Morais and her son, José Morais, who grew up surrounded by glasses, besides being passionate about the history of the shop and the family, still keeping in use the furniture that is from the 40s.
Besides this, Ótica Morais continues to serve the same families, from great-grandfather to great-grandson, excelling in the varied offer of models and brands of glasses and betting on quality, also having a medical office service.
A great curiosity of Ótica Morais is linked to what was the largest clock factory in the world – the Swiss factory Roamer Watch and the old clock in the Clock Tower of the city, in the year 1957.
In the scope of a project that the municipality wanted to develop for the Tower, Armando de Morais, who was the representative of the brand and importer for Portugal, gave the idea of developing a beach clock that this brand offered to the city.
