The Shop

The Eduardo Brazão Theatre is a Portuguese theatre located in the town of Bombarral, classified as a Property of Public Interest since 1996. In 2021, the Eduardo Brazão Theatre celebrated its 100th anniversary.
Since 1952, the theatre has been managed by the União Cultural e Recreativa do Bombarral, a non-profit cultural association recognized in 2017 as serving the Public Interest by decree of the Council of Ministers.

Shop History

Built in the early 20th century, the theatre was inaugurated on February 27, 1921, with the presence of actors Eduardo Brazão (1851–1925) and Ilda Stichini (1895–1977). The history of the events and performances held in the centenary building intertwines with the story of the people of Bombarral, who experienced unforgettable moments there.

In the 1930s, after important national and international theatre companies had performed on its stage, the theatre also began functioning as a cinema. Inside, it houses a beautiful horseshoe-shaped auditorium with stalls and side boxes on the lower floor, and two upper levels with a balcony and private boxes, in the style commonly known as “Italian-style theatre.” An orchestra pit separates the stalls from the stage, behind which are located the dressing rooms, backstage areas, and sanitary facilities.
