Shop History

Casa Januário was the accomplished result of a young entrepreneur’s dream. This young man was from Fundão, and, though he didn’t have any capital to invest, Januário Gil Mendes Ferreira managed to establish himself and the store in Porto. In 1926, thanks to a very peculiar way of treating and serving his customers, Januário gained fame and recognition in the city.
In 1965, Nuno Manuel, his son, operated some strategic changes in order to keep the business up to date with contemporary demands of customers. Today, the founder’s grandsons are managing the business. This house preserves the history, the tradition and a very particular and unique way of serving customers. Undoubtedly, a family’s reason to be proud!
